Legacy Financial Group is a General Agency of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual), thus enabling the firm to offer a wide range of financial products and services.
The Providence-based agency has a long history serving Rhode Island, and is the second-oldest general agency at MassMutual. Founded in 1851, MassMutual is a mutually owned financial protection, accumulation and income management company headquartered in Springfield, MA.
Our Management Team
Timothy Ludwig
General Agent
Tim Ludwig took over as General Agent of Providence-based Legacy Financial Group, a general agency of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual), in July of 2010. In his role as General Agent, Tim is responsible for leading, mentoring, and motivating a growing team of financial services professionals and staff.
Tim's career in financial services began at Mutual of New York (MONY) after he graduated from Quinnipiac University. After a successful stint at MONY, Tim moved to Charter Oak Insurance and Financial Services Co., also a general agency of MassMutual, in 2003, where he built the New Haven district office from the ground up as its Sales Manager. He strategically recruited talent to grow that office from a fledgling unit to one employing 35 professionals at its peak. Just six years later, Tim was heading one of the top five district offices in the agency's network.
Tim was drawn to financial services in large part through his aptitude for and love of entrepreneurship. Growing up in Connecticut, he was an entrepreneur at a young age, building and selling his first business before attending college. He also worked summers at the family farm, where he learned the value of hard work. It was there where he first encountered the challenges that multi-generational businesses face in maintaining and growing a family enterprise. Consequently, when he launched his private practice, Tim committed to a focus on succession planning and family-owned businesses, and obtained the American College's Certified Family Business Specialist (CSFB) designation in 2006.
Tim is an avid golfer. He and his wife and two young sons live in East Greenwich, RI.
Todd E. Vroman
Sales Manager
Todd Vroman serves as a Sales Manager and Financial Advisor Based in our Providence offices. Todd joined Legacy Financial Group after working at Digital Federal Credit Union as Vice President of DCU Financial. He was responsible for the sales, operations and compliance of DCU Financial. With 17 years experience in the financial services industry, His focus was working with agents and brokers to help their clients with planning needs in the areas of risk management, wealth accumulation and estate and business planning strategies. Todd spent over six years with Morgan Stanley as a full service Financial Advisor, three years with The Hartford working with clients and advisors on both basic and advanced planning solutions.
Todd lives in Southborough, MA with his wife, Jill, and their two young children. He is most proud of his family and his work of addressing the protection needs of families and businesses and helping them obtain their goals.
His hobbies include Taekwondo, golf, and cooking.
Derek Wright
Sales Manager
Derek Wright began his career in the financial services business in 1997 serving for three years as a successful financial advisor for one of the world's largest mutual insurance companies. In 2001, Derek was named Sales Development Manager of a New Hampshire agency, which began a period of monumental sales growth and led to his promotion to the same position with one of the largest agencies in the United States, in northern New Jersey, with over $18 million in annual premium sales.
After leaving the industry for a brief time in 2007 to run his own insurance restoration business, Derek returned in 2008, joining Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual) as Chief Operating Officer at Wealth Management Partners in Denver, CO. Since 2009, Derek has been asked to take on leadership responsibilities with two other MassMutual agencies in Kansas City, MO, and Providence, RI, and is currently hiring top notch sales people with an excellent work ethic and the desire to build a successful career in the markets of Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut.
As a leader, coach, and developer of people, Derek takes enormous pride in helping financial professionals develop world class practices. Having worked with some of the premiere leaders in the industry over a dozen years, in in four regions of the country, Derek understands the financial services business thoroughly. The recipient of numerous company awards for Case Rate Growth and Advisor Retention, Derek is an authority on success patterns in financial services and sales.
John Huntington, CLU, ChFC
Agency Director of Advanced Planning
A veteran of the financial service industry, John Huntington brings over 40 years of award-recognized experience as a financial advisor, trainer and manager to his clients and their families. In addition to his personal practice, John ran his own agency with Guardian Life in Rhode Island, and also served at the Guardian Home Office in New York City.
As part of his insurance planning practice, John uses the Lifetime Economic Acceleration Process (LEAP) to help individuals, families, and business owners analyze the efficient use of their cash flows. LEAP helps individuals better understand their protection, savings, and growth objectives and to identify existing resources to fund the products that can help meet those objectives.
As Legacy Financial Group's Agency Director of Advanced Planning, John also teaches the LEAP system to both new and experienced financial service professionals.
John and his wife, Roberta, are parents to five adult children and proud grandparents of seven. They reside in Westerly, Rhode Island.
Edward Quinn, MBA
Vice President - Investment Specialist
Ed Quinn is based in our Providence office and serves as Vice President - Investment Specialist at Legacy Financial Group. He is responsible for sophisticated financial planning for clients, portfolio management and new business development. Ed joined Legacy Financial in 2009 after working at Fidelity Investments for over eight years. The last three and a half years with Fidelity, Ed was Vice President - Regional Sales Manager leading a team of representatives responsible for providing investment guidance and financial solutions to individuals and assisting them with their investment portfolios. Prior to that role, Ed was a Senior Relationship Manager responsible for working with some of Fidelity's largest institutional clients in the Tax Exempt market.
Before working at Fidelity, Ed was an Associate Vice President with Citizens Bank. In this capacity, he worked with small business owners and individuals on their retirement plans and investment portfolios. Prior to Citizens Bank, Ed held several roles in the Corporate Benefits office of a large printing company. One of these roles was helping employees with their retirement portfolios and this is where he developed his passion for assisting individuals with their financial goals.
Ed graduated from Fairfield University with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and received an MBA from the University of Rhode Island. Ed lives in Cumberland, RI with his wife Melissa and son Aidan. He enjoys golfing and skiing in his spare time.
Michael Korber MBA
Brokerage Director
Michael Korber serves as the Brokerage Director at Legacy Financial Group. He is responsible for managing independent brokers throughout Legacy's Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut territory, as well as assisting with marketing and sales support.
Prior to joining Legacy Financial Group, Michael was an independent investment advisor representative and business development consultant. Previously he held executive management positions in several successful companies in Dallas, TX. He was president/CEO of Korber Hats, Inc. until he negotiated the sale of his company to a Dallas-based manufacturer in 1995.
Michael has served as an adjunct professor of accounting and finance at KEAN College and is certified by the Professional Ski Instructors of America as a Master Teacher.
Polly Danyla
Recruiting Director
Polly Danyla is responsible for the recruitment and selection of Financial Services Professionals and Sales Managers. She also manages the on-boarding activities, including contracting, licensing and training, which helps new agents get off to a fast start in this entrepreneurial career. From day one they are surrounded by support in the form of training classes, marketing, and coaching.
Polly has been recruiting professionals in the financial services industry since 2008 and joined Legacy Financial Group in March 2009. Polly's most recent experience was managing multinational accounts for American Express Corporate Services.
Outside of work Polly is a member of the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce, Newport Chamber, RISD Museum Associates and MMO's owner and board chair. Polly is proficient and certified recruiter through AIRS. She grew up in North Carolina and has lived in Rhode Island for the past 12 years with her family.
